Create Your FSA ID — Do This Before Anything Else

Your FSA ID is your username and password for the Federal Student Aid website. You need it to sign and submit the FAFSA electronically. It can take 1–3 business days to verify — so create it now, before the FAFSA opens.

Go to studentaid.gov/fsa-id
Click 'Create Account' — it's free and takes about 10 minutes
Use your personal email
Do not use a school email — you'll need access after graduation
Parents need their own FSA ID
Each parent who signs the FAFSA needs a separate FSA ID with their own SSN
Verify your email immediately
Check your inbox and click the verification link before the FSA ID is active
