CalPERS publishes 32 benefit factor charts across five member categories; identical editions are printed once, so there are 29 tables below. Find your member category first. The same formula name — 2% at 55, 2.5% at 55 — appears in more than one category with different factors or a different maximum benefit behind it. Your CalPERS Annual Member Statement or your personnel office has your category and formula if you are not sure.

CalPERS benefit factor charts.
A benefit factor — also called an age factor — is the percentage of your pay you earn for each year you work. It is one of three numbers CalPERS multiplies together: your years of service credit, the benefit factor for your age on the day you retire, and your final compensation (your highest average pay over 12 or 36 consecutive months, depending on your formula). Retire at 55 under the State Miscellaneous 2% at 55 formula with 25 years of service credit and the factor is 2.000%, so you earn 2.000% × 25 = 50% of your final compensation as a monthly pension for life. Your member category and formula are printed on your CalPERS Annual Member Statement and in myCalPERS.
Where a chart carries a published maximum benefit — 80% or 90% of final compensation, depending on the table — the pension stops growing at that ceiling no matter how many more years of service credit are added. Two tables with identical factors and different ceilings are different benefits, which is why every table above prints its own cap.
